United States Institute of Consumer Reports tried to find out about this. Of the 42 samples of canned tuna are examined, they found that the mercury contained in each can of tuna fish. Mercury levels in tuna vary each, between 0018 to 0774 ppm. The number is still classified as safe by the U.S. FDA agency, because according to them safe limit is 1 ppm mercury. However, if you follow the opinion of the institution Environmental Protection Agency, the range of this figure already exceeds the safe limit according to them, namely 0.5 ppm maximum.
